Thanks to Mike for letting me take this one, I guess I got to be funny to get that laugh energy. So… What’s the deal with the title of this short? I mean could you be any lazier, hope you didn’t stare at “untitled horror project” for too long before this eureka moment. I think it’s kind of funny, because if you think about it, this is the only genre you could name your film the name of the genre. Here is my movie, what it called? Science Fiction. This short is about a little girl who learns how ehh… monstrous her family is.

Please enjoy today’s short: How I See My In-Laws

This short was created by Riff and Alternate Studio be sure to check out this wicked the making of video posted to CGMeetup to see it come from concept to final product. I’m glad I finally got one here that covers both international animation and 3D animations which are far and few between.

This little girl confuses me, it definitely got the big saucer sympathy eyes and good proportions, but I can’t help but feel the shape of the face that it kind of looks like an adult face. I’m not the best artist, but I’d like to see someone challenge this, but I feel that the features like the jawline and nose bridge are too angular and that the coloration of some features look like beauty make-up…am I wrong? The video game inspired perspective shots worked well, as well as the creature designs look horrid and grotesque. It serves as a good example of show don’t tell as with no dialogue the deeper themes explored in the short is kind of the audience’s duty to pull them out.

It truly says something on the nature of abusive and violent households as well as the terrible fact that most children blame themselves for their explosive households they live in. This short is one here because it demonstrates the horrible monsters that exist beyond our world, and the ones that hit closer to home.

That’s it for today’s spooky short, be sure to check back tomorrow for another. Be sure to like and follow/subscribe to the feature creator to support the short shown and to like and follow me to follow along and support 31 spooks of October. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a spooky, scary month. Goodbye now.
